My name is Jasmine Purnomo, and I am currently an undergraduate in the Illustration: Entertainment Arts program at Art Center College of Design. I hope to become a concept designer in order to design both creative and functional products that can bring compelling stories to life.

I began my college education at UCLA as a business-economics major, but my love of art quickly brought me to Art Center. In this past year as a First Year Immersion student, I have broadened my knowledge of various design fields while refining my technical skills. I now hope to advance my education in the Illustration department.

At first, I was solely attracted to the surface visuals of beautiful concept pieces. However, I eventually realized that at its core, concept design is about storytelling. Through analyzing films and storyboarding, my excitement for concept design has grown to encompass both the art itself and the story it conveys. There are many pieces of visual media that have largely impacted me, and I want to be a part of something similar. I want to create something timeless that emotionally resonates with the people I reach, just like the media that has impacted me.

I am working to not only push my designs to be aesthetically pleasing, but to also tell a story that transcends time and moves people. While I have broad interests in all aspects of concept design, I seek to explore and solidify my interests through the various classes I will take, such as character design and storyboarding.
